It's a 3-Step program like Nicoderm CQ and has helped hundreds of thousands of people quit smoking. Both are 3-Step programs, starting with Step 1 patches at 21 mg of nicotine, then Step 2 patches at 14 mg and finishing with Step 3 patches at 7 mg. The two programs are essentially equivalent. For Heavy Smokers, Nicoderm CQ suggests six weeks on Step 1 and Habitrol suggests four weeks. Our customers have been satisfied with either of the two suggestions. The main difference is price, with Habitrol being lower. The Habitrol patch contains nicotine, the addictive agent in tobacco products. When you wear a patch, it gradually releases nicotine into your bloodstream through the skin. By replacing some of the nicotine to which your body has become accustomed from smoking, the patch helps reduce your nicotine withdrawal symptoms. By following the 3-Step program you gradually wean your body of its nicotine cravings over an eight-week period until you are nicotine free.

P.S.

I forgot to mention that it doesn't stick too well. Certainly not the 24 hours of wear. Mine sticks for about 6-8 hrs, then I have to tape it. The best way I found was a HUGE bandage right over the top, first thing in the am....stayed on all day.
The only other thing is it itches like CRAZY around the patch for the first hour. Then I'm ok. But I've had no rash or irritation.
It's cheaper...and it's value is more than it costs! It's saved me so far: 12 days and counting.

Best choice for me

This is the 3rd and final time I quit. I haven't had the withdrawals and physical cravings...just the behavioral and mental ones (and this product won't help with that!)
I recommend it for the physical aspect. (Just be aware that it can cause vivid dreams. I take mine off before bed.)

Works great with duct tape!

Seriously, this product does what it says it will. The cravings are more like passing thoughts and easy to get around. It offers a gradual step down from Nicotine until you can handle it solo. My only complaint, they don't stick very well. You have a 24 hour patch with 12 hour stick time..When push comes to shove I'm willing to tape it down. Sure beats paying double for a "name brand" and sure beats smoking.

i am on day 5 now. been smoking for over 25 years. my father-in-law (who quit smoking cold turkey) gave me the full 2 month supply. although they have been expired for over a year now, they still work. first day was hell. took about half a day to kick in.i used nite quil to help me sleep. day two was much better.nite quil again to help me sleep. day three was hell again, because the patch fell of in the middle of the night before. took another half day to kick in again. used benadryl to help me sleep. wrapped the patch with gauss to prevent it from falling off. started chewing on cinimin sticks and eating grapes. day four was virtualy craving free. just annoying mini cravings that can be taken care of by walking the dog. day 5, today. craving free, stopped snaking.
you will also notice that you will have very vivit dreams which can be quite amusing
